Privacy Policy

Current ("we", "us", "the app") is a private thinking system for capturing thoughts and letting connections form between them. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the controls you have over it. It applies to the Current web app, desktop app, and iOS app.

1. What we collect

• Account information - your email address and authentication credentials (or the minimum profile information provided by a social sign-in provider).
• Content you capture - the thoughts, notes, tasks, and any text or audio you explicitly add to the app.
• Derived data - entities (people, projects, topics), links between thoughts, embeddings, and suggestions generated from your content to power search and connections.
• Calendar data - if you connect Google Calendar or Apple Calendar, we access event titles, times, and attendees to surface them alongside your thoughts. You can disconnect a calendar at any time in Settings.
• Usage & device information - basic technical logs (device type, app version, crash reports) used to keep the app reliable.

2. How we use it

We use your content strictly to operate the product for you: extracting entities and links, generating embeddings for search, surfacing related thoughts and open loops, and syncing your data across your own devices. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your private thoughts to train models for other users.

3. AI processing

Enrichment (entity extraction, suggestions, and semantic search) is performed using a third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic) and an on-device/local embedding model where possible. Content sent to a third-party model provider is used only to generate a response for your account and is governed by that provider's own data-use terms. Your privacy tier in Settings controls what, if anything, is sent off-device.

4. Data storage & security

Your data is stored in an encrypted database and transmitted over TLS. Authentication uses industry-standard hashing for credentials and short-lived tokens for API access. We rely on standard encryption available through our infrastructure providers and Apple's platform frameworks - we do not implement any proprietary or non-standard cryptography.

5. Your controls

• Export all of your data at any time from Settings.
• Delete individual thoughts, entities, or your entire account at any time.
• Choose your privacy tier, controlling what content is eligible for AI processing.
• Disconnect any connected calendar or integration at any time.

6. Data retention

We retain your content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your content and derived data are permanently removed from production systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Children

Current is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll notify active accounts by email before the change takes effect.
